Banner Interstitials

As a Foxtrot admin user, I can create and manage banner interstitials for web and mobile app application.

Banner interstitials can be enabled on Web and/or Mobile Apps. On Web, banner interstitials will display on all pages. On mobile apps, banner interstitials will display on the homepage. If there are multiple active banner interstitials within the same timeframe, a scrolling banner interstitial will display.

Below is an example of a Banner Interstitial:

To manage banner interstitials , navigate to the Banner Interstitial page in Foxtrot.

Banner Interstitials: List View

When a user navigates to Banner Interstitial page, user sees a list view of all created Banner Interstitials.

The list view will default to a result view of all Banner Interstitials in priority order.

  • Name is the internal name a user can give for the banner
  • Position is the priority of the banner
  • Web Enabled shows whether this is shown on web
  • App Enabled shows whether this is shown on mobile apps
  • Selectable shows whether the banner links to a different pace
  • Scope shows if the page is scoped to specific segments or global (meaning default to all customers)
  • Start Date and End Date shows the dates the banner is live and accessible by customers
  • Reference Type shows what the banner links out to
  • Banner Text is the actual copy shown in the banner for customers to see

Search and filter by the below fields to view a select banner interstitial:

  • User can search by Name. Search is case sensitive.
  • Search and filter by Reference Type
  • Search and filter by Scope
  • Search and filter by Selectable, Web Enabled, App Enabled
  • Fields can be used together to narrow down your results
  • Results by page is hardcoded to show list all created banners since prioritization must happen on one page

Banner Interstitials: Prioritization

A user is able to define position or drag and drop within the list view to set priority.

  • If multiple banners are active within a time frame, Web will chose the highest priority first.
  • To update positions drag the banner interstitial to the right place and click Update Positions CTA on top left.

Banner Interstitial: Create and Update

A user is able to create and edit banners for web and app.

  • Click on Create Banner Interstial CTA
  • Web enabled: will allow it to show on web as long as it is prioritized and within active time frame.
    • Web allows for a scrolling banner interstitial, so web sill show however many banners are active in priority order.
  • App enabled: will show on app as long as it is within an active time frame
    • App has a scrolling banner interstitial, so app will show however many banners are active in priority order.
  • Selectable: Checking this allows the banner to link to a URL or soft category
  • Name: Internal name of banner (Not customer facing)
  • Banner text: Customer facing text of banner (around 90 characters max)
    • For Web: If the character count is over 100, the messaging will wrap onto a second line and the height of the banner will expand.
  • Display countdown timer: check to show countdown timer on banner interstitial
    • Countdown timer will reference Banner Interstitial End Date
    • Timer will display on web only
  • Color Theme: Background color of banner. Typically we use dark. There are also options for light and alert.
    • For Web: If there are multiple active banners with different color themes, the banner will reflect the color theme of the highest priority banner interstitial
  • Dismisses Allowed: 2
    • This field only impacts iOS and android app. It does not apply to web.
  • Time between dismisses: 600
    • This field only impacts iOS and android app. It does not apply to web.
  • Marketing Campaign is optional.
  • Start and end dates of banner: Banner will only show within this time frame
  • Scope: Scope by global to display to all users, or select segmented scope
  • Warehouses: If applicable, target banner to only users in select warehouse locations
  • Do not need to add Reference Client Title
  • Reference Type: Where you pick soft category or URL to link out to
    • Pick No Reference if the banner should not link
      • Soft category CTA = Shop Now
      • URL CTA = Learn More
  • URL: Where you enter the category or soft category to link out to
  • Click Save and Create when done

Helpful Tips

  • Updating active banner interstitials requires a web cache that happens overnight. To see results immediately you need to force a cache in foxtrot
    • In FT, go to Web Sessions. Pick any time stamp in the past and press Save. Updates should reflect within a minute.
  • On main banner interstitial page, all active banners are towards the bottom. If you don't see all banners minimize your screen.
