User Segments

As a Foxtrot admin user, you can manage and create User Segments for web and mobile app application.

User Segments are curated groups of client users that meet certain criteria. You can scope campaigns and features to specific User Segments. These do not update in real time.

To manage user segments, navigate to the User Segments page in Foxtrot.

Best Practices

  • There should never be more than 10 active user segments at one time. Please pause any you are not using to avoid slowing down performance.
  • It takes approximately two hours from when a user meets the criteria of a user segment to officially reflect in the user segment. This is a rolling two hours for each individual user.
    • It is best practice to "pause" any user segments that are no longer in use to help limit the amount of "active" user segments at any given time. This can help ensure that segment refresh job durations don't increase beyond two hours.
  • Users needs to be logged in to see any content scoped to a User Segment.

User Segments: List View

  • When a user navigates to the user segments page, user sees a list view of all created user segments.
    • GID: The internal unique id of the user segment
    • Name: The internal facing name of the user segment
    • Status: Indicates the status of the user segment (active, paused or deleted)
    • Is Live: Indicates if the user segment is live (yes or no)
      • Live user segments meet one of the below two criteria:
        • Active + permanent user segment
        • Active + temporary user segment before its expiration date
    • Expression: A preview of the criteria of that user segment
  • Search and filter by the below fields to view a select user segment:
    • Search and filter by GID
    • Search and filter by Name. Search is case sensitive
    • Search and filter by Is Live
    • Search and filter by Status
